It's fatuous and narcissistic for someone like me to even pretend to be a "musician" long enough to "pay tribute" to someone like Prince, the greatest musician in living memory.  There are certainly enough wonderful and well-written tributes coming thick and fast today (I recommend this one by the great Rob Sheffield) that I don't need to put in my two cents.  But I've never been this shaken by the death of someone I didn't know and never met.  Stunned, didn't see it coming, still trying to absorb it.

Yes, it finally happened...

It's a bit (or a lot) embarrassing to look at all the blogs and Facebook posts I've made in the past three or four years, saying "new CD coming this year for sure!"  I clearly can't be trusted.  :)  But now that "Stars On The Ceiling", five years in the making, is finally out in the world, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out, and I'm glad I only put it out when it was really ready.

So thank you all for the incredibly great response -- all I ask is that if you like it, tell your friends.  :)  (And…

Can't talk now!

I'm too busy recording!

Will come STORMING back soon with newses and such, I promise.  In the meantime, check out my show from last year with Oren & Annie (and Nic):

Things ARE happening, I promise...

Busy recording, playing, writing.  There WILL be a new CD this year...but I'll have a couple of other things to announce PRETTY DAMN SOON.

Keep hope alive - jc

Hey it's me again, the guy whose name is the URL for this site.  I have news both good and not-as-good.  The not-as-good news is that the new album won't be out until early 2014 (I'm just a helpless target of "sorry for the wait" jokes at this point...).  The good news is that it's going to be much better than it would have been had I rushed it out (which I was basically doing until I realized it was a bad move), and it's coming along quite nicely.  This one's going to be more ME than before, as far as…

Still back! Busy though

So here's a clip of Pirate Radio's show last month at El Rio.  A little shaky (and brief) but it sounds pretty good!  This is probably my favorite PR song to play; we really click as a four-piece here.  I also learned, watching this, that I should probably put down the Macbook screen while I'm playing guitar.  People paid money, they deserve to see me.

I'm in the middle of a hectic self-imposed schedule to get my new CD out by the end of the year.  In service to this madness I spent five hours in…

Welcome back!

And that goes for me too.  This site has languished for a couple of years now -- don't they all? -- but my absence has been particularly embarrassing given that the video intro for the site (which was used to advertise my first CD) featured a big text block saying "it's 2008" well into 2013.  And, of course, the joke was that the CD was called "Sorry for the Wait", and its release was then followed by -- you guessed it -- another really, really long wait.

Well, the end of that wait is in sight.  I can't…
